People are wrongJan 12, 2010 Its a great mat for the price I have done extensive searches for natural rugs and this is the best price so far, and if you have a problem with the initial smell of the straw go get some lavender oil and mix it with water, spray it like febreeze & stop complaining you picky people! it is a good mat!

Quality Tatami MatAug 01, 2009 This is the real deal that others try to copy. It has a tight weave so when you put it on the ground nothing pokes through. I personally like the natural smell of straw. I have bought the cheaper brands and there is no comparison.

Unfair reviews so farApr 03, 2009 I'm shopping for tatami and had to comment on the reviews so far. Folks, true tatami is light green. It ages into a tan color. And again, if it's real, it smells like new straw. This is exactly what you'd hope for if you were buying "real" tatami and not cheap floor mats. Sheesh!

False AdvertisementJun 13, 2008 I was extremely disappointed with this product. In the pictures it looks like a nice sandy color, while in reality it is an unpleasant light green. It's not nearly as sturdy as it looks, and as another reviewer pointed out, it has a very strong smell. Mine arrived with a stain on it, as though something had been spilled and not cleaned up properly. Customer service was very helpful in refunding my money, but that didn't the product itself any better.

Dont do itDec 08, 2007 Horrible product, not only is it an ugly green throw up color, but it smell's like it was soaked in manure then joined the barnyard for a sleepover. I cant even take it out of the box or garage for that matter because the smell is so foul. If you want to waste your money, this is the product to do so.
