 Greatly surpassed my expectations!Jul 31, 2010
I love this shoji screen! Purchased the 5 panel in Honey. I needed a screen on each side of a window so I removed two hinges and am now using 3 panels on one side and 2 panels on the other side. The honey color is much richer and more beautiful than as pictured. Hinges are very nice quality and are double-hinged so each panel can move in either direction, a nice feature! Rice paper is soft and thick while still letting diffused light through, beautiful! Oriental Furniture delivered FedEX very quickly and a day earlier than the estimated delivery window. Packaging was excellent. I recommend this screen from Oriental Furniture very highly.

I ordered a 5 panel screen in WALNUT. I know what walnut looks like because I have several pieces of walnut furniture.
I received the screen promptly after ordering it. However, what I received was a dark wood screen with an underlying reddish/cherry tone to it--clearly CHERRYWOOD. Just to be sure that I wasn't crazy, over the next three days I asked four separate people if they considered the screen to be WALNUT, CHERRYWOOD, or MAPLE (just to throw in a third choice for research purposes). Everyone said it appeared to be CHERRYWOOD which is not what I had ordered.
When I emailed customer service, this is the response I received:
"I had shown this to the warehouse manager and spoke to him regarding this issue. Apparently, the factory has been going through a change with the walnut color and this screen you received is the newer version walnut which all the screens are going to become eventually."
To be fair, I was adequately compensated for this error and otherwise the screen was in great condition. I did recommend that as a matter of fairness and accuracy, they stop offering walnut if they can't deliver it, but they will do what they want to do.
So if you are looking for a true walnut shoji screen, this company does not seem to offer one despite the fact that walnut is still a color choice of theirs.

This is a nice screen, well built and no assembly required. I would not recommend this seller though, because it took a month for my screen to arrive undamaged. The first one I received a week and a half after ordering. There was a large hole in the box, and also a hole through the screen inside the box. They will not ship you another one until they receive the damaged one, and that was a headache. It took fedex a week to come pick it up, after I called oriental furniture complaining every day. Then I had to keep calling because they gave me the run around about when I would get another screen. Try to find one from another seller, because the service is awful!

The product is doing its job as a shoji screen; I just don't like the exposed screws and the large spaces between the screens. It's very fragile and the quality is so-so. Packaging and shipping were excellent.
